The IWTC was first held in February, 1996.  Since then 14 conferences were held as described in chronological order :

  • The First IWTC was held during the period February 26-29, 1996 in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minster of Water Resources and Public works, Minster of State for Scientific Research, and President of Alexandria University. The conference was organized by Alexandria Potable Water Authority, Water Research Center and International Consultant (IC), Egypt. 33 papers were accepted.
  • The Second IWTC was held during the period March 28-31, 1997, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Education, Minster of New Communities, and Minister of State for Scientific Research, Minister of State for Military Production, Governor of Alexandria, and President of Mansoura University. The conference was organized by Alexandria Potable Water Authority, Water Research Center, Italian Scientific Cooperation Section Italian Embassy Cairo, and Ghoete Institute and German research Association (Germany). 34 papers from 3 countries were accepted.
  • The Third IWTC was held during the period March 20-23, 1998, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minster of Housing & Utilities and Urban Communities, Minster of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, Minster of Public Works and Water Resources, Governor of Alexandria, and President of Mansoura University. The conference was organized by the National Organization of Potable Water and Sanitary Drainage (NOPWASD), and Mansoura Univ. 44 papers from 11 countries were accepted.
  • The Fourth IWTC was held during the period March 5-8, 1999, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Housing & Utilities and Urban Communities, Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, Minister of Public Works and Water Resources, Governor of Alexandria, President of Alexandria University, and President of Zagazig University. The conference was organized by Alexandria University, Zagazig University, NOPWASD, and Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Egypt. 44 papers from 10 countries were accepted.
  • The Fifth IWTC was held during the period March 3-5, 2000, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Housing & Utilities and Urban Communities, Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, Minister of Public Works and Water Resources, and President of Suez Canal University. The conference was organized by The Egyptian Water Technology Association (EWTA), Suez Canal University, and NOPWASD. 44 papers from 8 countries were accepted.
  • The Sixth IWTC was held during the period March 23-25, 2001, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Governor of Alexandria, and President of Assiut Univ. The conference was organized by EWTA, Assiut University, and IC. 71 papers from 6 countries were accepted.
  • The Seventh IWTC was held during the period June 3-5, 2003, in Cairo, Egypt under the auspices of H.E. Minister of Housing & Utilities and Urban Communities. The conference was organized by EWTA, NOPWASD, and Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC). 80 papers from 21 countries were accepted.
  • The Eighth IWTC was held during the period March 26-28, 2004, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.E. Prime Minister. The conference was organized by EWTA, Mansoura Univ., Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, and UNESCO. 67 papers from 14 countries were accepted.
  • The Ninth IWTC was held during the period March 17-20, 2005, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Housing & Utilities and Urban Communities, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, and Minister of Education. The conference was organized by EWTA, Mansoura Univ., Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs, FAO Cairo Office and UNESCO Cairo Office. 94 papers from 18 countries were accepted.
  • The Tenth IWTC was held during the period March 23-25, 2006, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.E. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation. The conference was organized by EWTA, Mansoura University, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and UNESCO Cairo Office. 93 papers from 13 countries were accepted.
  • The Eleventh IWTC was held during the period March 15-18, 2007, in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development. The conference was organized by EWTA, Mansoura University, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and UNESCO Cairo Office. 76 papers from 15 countries were accepted.
  • The Twelfth IWTCwas held during the period March 27-30, 2008, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of Prince Crown Sultan Bin Abdulaziz and H.Es Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development. The conference was organized by EWTA, Mansoura University, and UNESCO Cairo Office. 111 papers from 25 countries were accepted.
  • The Thirteenth IWTC was held during the period March 12-15, 2009, in Hurghada, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development, Minister of Social Solidarity, Minister of Local Development, and Governor of Sharqia. The conference was organized by EWTA, Zagazig University, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Engineers Syndicate, and UNESCO Cairo Office. 116 papers from 27 countries were accepted.
  • The Fourteenth IWTC was held during the period March 21-23, 2010, in Cairo, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of High Education and State Minister of Scientific Research, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development, Minister of Tourism, and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation. The conference was organized by EWTA, Benha University, Holding Company for Water and Waste Water, and UNESCO Cairo Office. 62 papers from 20 countries were accepted.
  • The Fifteenth IWTC was held during the period May 28-30, 2011, in Alexandria, Egypt under the auspices of H.Es Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation. The conference was organized by IWTA. 104 papers from 36 countries were accepted.
  • The Sixteenth IWTC was held during the period May 7-10, 2012, in Istanbul, Turkey. With Generous auspices of his highness prince Khaled Ben Sultan Ben Abdulaziz, and under the auspices of their excellencies Rector of Fatih University, Turkey, Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Minister of Culture, and President of Arab Academy for Science and Technology. The conference was organized by IWTA,and Fatih University, Turkey. 113 papers from 40 countries were accepted.
  • The Seventeenth IWTC was held during the period November 5-7, 2013, in Istanbul, Turkey. under the auspices of their excellencies Rector of Fatih University, Turkey. The conference was organized by IWTA, E-JUST, Water Research center, Mansoura University, Istanbul University, and Fatih University, Turkey. 114 papers from 22 countries were accepted.
  • The Eighteenth IWTC was held during the period March 12-14, 2015, in Sharm Elsheikh, Egypt. under the auspices of their excellencies Prof. Dr. Hossam ElMoghazy Minister of Water Resources and irrigation, Egypt, Prof.Dr. Elsayed Abd Elkhalik Minister of High Education and Prof. Dr Khaled Fahmy Minister of Environment. The conference was organized by IWTA in co-operation with  Water Research center, Mansoura University,Ministry of Water Resources and irrigation, Zagazig University, and Arab Academy of maritime transport and science & technolog. 79 papers from 15 countries were accepted
  • The Nineteenth IWTC was held during the period April 21-23, 2016, in Sharm Elsheikh, Egypt. under the auspices of their excellencies Prof.Dr. Ashraf El Shehi  Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Reasearch ,Dr. Mohammed Abder-Atey Minister of Water Resources and irrigation, Egypt, Prof.Dr.Mohammed El-Kenawy President of Mansoura University and   Prof.Dr.Ismail Abd El-Ghafar President of Arab Academy of Maritime Transport and Science & Technolog . The conference was organized by IWTA in co-operation with  Water Research center, Mansoura University. 47 papers from 11 countries were accepted
